Rachel was always a talented singer/songwriter, she just never knew it. “I wrote and sang my first song when I was 7 years old. It had verses, a chorus and a bridge and the melody was very catchy. I didn’t know that not every kid could do that.”
When Rachel finally realised that her songs were worth listening to it was many years later, after having kids of her own. Despite being late to the country music scene, Rachel made up for lost time. “I decided to enter the 2011 Tamworth Songwriters Association National Competition, and my original song won the amateur category. I was so overwhelmed, I just sobbed.”
Rachel went on to release her first single, ‘I’ll Miss You’ and won Best New Talent Radio Award for 1629AM Newcastle and Coast FM 963 Gosford. Her second single, ‘You’re My Man’, won Rachel a Gold Medallion Media Award and reached number 3 in the Netherlands. She released her debut album, ‘No Secrets’ with 11 original tracks plus an exquisite cover, ‘The Sparrow Song’, lovingly produced by the legendary Lindsay Butler OAM.
Rachel juggles work, family, writing and recording, performing and appearing in local musical theatre shows. “My husband jokingly says I’m not very nice to be around unless I’m doing music.”
